The 4e International Class have been working on the play « Oliver Twist » and finally presented it to the 5e International class last Tuesday.
This classic tale by Charles Dickens tells the story of a little orphan boy, Oliver Twist, whose mother dies giving birth to him in a workhouse. He has many adventures : first he is sold for £5 to an undertaker, then he escapes to London only to end up with a gang of thieves. He meets the Artful Dodger, a pickpocket ; the clever Fagin, a seller of stolen goods and finally the wicked Bill Sikes, a criminal and murderer. He is helped by a gentleman, Lord Brownlow, who, we discover during the play, was a friend of Oliver’s father and who will later adopt him. He is also helped by Bill Sikes’ girlfriend, Nancy, who feels sorry for him and decides to save him.
This sad story with a happy ending was beautifully performed by the 4e Internationals who said, « After all our hard work, the best part was presenting it to the 5e ! »
