The students of the International Section are particularly concerned about the problems of our world. Today they decided to join with thousands of other young people worldwide to demonstrate for climate action. To the sound of « One, two, three degrees, it’s a crime against humanity » they marched through the hallways pf the school. They they gave speeches and had a sit-in in the school courtyard. They gave each other challenges to change their behavior. Finally they organized a bake sale to raise money to help our environment.
Listen to one of their speeches (by Ella Stewart 4e) :
« Our environment : do we even care ? Humans seem to talk a lot about it, but don’t put enough effort into doing something about it. Many people do not understand the consequences of their actions, when they drive, use plastic, take an airplane or litter. Some just don’t care anymore. They think that our world is already lost and we can’t do anything about it. But they’re wrong ! We still have time. We can still help to save our planet one step at a time. But it will take much more action from each individual rather than depending on governments and waiting for them to solve our problems. Therefore I call on all individuals, on all of us, to reduce the products that create a negative impact on our environment. Ask yourself personally, what you can and will do to prevent global warming and help save our only home. »
As Greta Thurnberg said, « I am not here to talk about hope. I am here to talk about action. The day there will be enough action, will be the day there will be hope. »
Well done to all the students !
