« The elephant lifted her trunk and began trumpeting at the sea. She swung around and I held on for dear life as she stampeded into the shadows of the jungle... »
Michael Morpurgo’s novel Running Wild tells the story of a young English boy, Will, who loses his father in the Iraq War, then goes with his mother to Indonesia on holiday only to be caught in the Boxing Day tsunami in 2004.
The 6e OIB class followed his adventures as he survives in the jungle with the help of an elephant ; he must confront not only the jungle, but deforestation, palm oil growers and the destruction of the orang-utans’ natural habitat.
They created scrapbooks of their journey.
