A Beautiful (Midsummer Night’s) Dream

lundi 14 décembre 2020, par Julia Fady

Even in these uncertain times, some things go on, like the presentation of theatre projects in the International section.

This year the 5e presented a shortened and Covid-friendly version of William Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream to the 6e International class. The story combines a complicated wedding between Theseus and Hippolyta and four lovers, Hermia and Lysander and Helena and Demetrius, who have trouble finding their soul mates. There are also problems in fairy land where the fairy king Oberon and the fairy queen Titania are quarreling over a changeling boy. In addition some very silly Athenian workmen are rehearsing and performing a play for the wedding celebration called « The Most Lamentable Comedy and Most Tragic death of Pyramus and Thisbe ». Somehow during rehearsals one of the actors, Nick Bottom, gets transformed into an ass...

But thanks to the talented actors, everything works out fine and, as Puck says,
« Jack shall have Jill/Nought shall go ill/and all shall be well. »

Here are some pictures from the performance for all to enjoy :
